About Us

A grassroots ministry in Nyakasa, serving Uganda's most vulnerable children.

St. Bruno Children's Community Foundation is a registered not-for-profit ministry based in Nyakasa village of Mbarara, Uganda, supporting orphans and vulnerable children since 2017.

Our Mission

Our USA-based non-profit foundation's primary role is to secure financial donations in support of the Ugandan ngo (non-governmental organization) of St. Bruno Children's Community Foundation. Their mission is outreach to poor, vulnerable school children and their families in the rural district of Mbarara, of southwestern Uganda.

Our Vision

A world where every child — regardless of where they were born — has the education, health, and opportunity to reach their full potential. We envision a Nyakasa community where the cycle of poverty is replaced by a cycle of possibility, one sponsored child at a time.

Our promise: We work alongside the Nyakasa community, never above it. Every dollar is accountable, every program is measurable, and every child is known by name.

Our Founder

From one promise to a movement.

Established 2017 in Nyakasa, Uganda · U.S. 501(c)(3) partner founded in 2026

Collins Bruno Ayebare, the founder and current director of St. Bruno Children's Community Foundation, was orphaned at the beginning of a major phase of his own childhood schooling. He was only able to attain his full education through a government bursary and contributions from generous local and international donors and friends.

After completing his teaching courses in 2018, Collins travelled to a school in Rwanda, where he established a local and international network of friendships — relationships that would later help him create the financial resources and support for the children's educational needs back in his home community of Uganda.

In April 2021, Collins left Rwanda and moved his family to Nyakasa to serve his educational ministry with community children full time. In January 2022, the Foundation admitted seventeen children under an education sponsorship program with the support of his first international fundraising partner, Taylor Bredehoft from Denver, Colorado. That same year, he raised a tent on his family's donated land to create a weekly Saturday program where children could study English and Bible lessons while enjoying a hot, nutritious porridge breakfast.

A year later, when that partnership could no longer continue, Collins welcomed a new U.S. partnership with Meron and Joey Brookhart of Yetsena Foundation. Their generous annual donations, along with other American sponsors, began an incredible journey of growth and transformation. In 2026, a new office building was completed with a dedicated team of young professionals passionate about serving the children with love and kindness.

Our History

An incredible journey of growth and transformation.

What began in 2017 as a small fundraising effort to keep orphans and vulnerable children in school has grown into a ministry serving more than 30 sponsored children across primary and secondary schools in Mbarara, Uganda. Each scholarship funded, each Saturday breakfast shared, and each rainwater catchment installed has been another step toward a future where every child in Nyakasa can learn and thrive.

Today, our programs span education sponsorship, clean water and hygiene, a community garden and nutrition program, and a youth skills apprenticeship — together serving the whole child and the whole community. Behind every desk sits a story of possibility, made real by supporters who believe that geography should never decide a child's future.

As we look ahead, our commitment remains the same: to walk alongside the Nyakasa community, to listen before we lead, and to build programs that last long after we are gone. May you kindly choose Friends of St. Bruno Children's Community Foundation the next time you think of donating to charity.
